Isobel's father was Hall Hamilton and her mother was Jeanie Adam Robin. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Alexander Hamilton and Isabella (Bella) Mcarthur Donald. She had two sisters named Janie and Agnes. She was the oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 87 in 2005 in Renfrew.
