Aird Duncan nee Drummond
Posted 01 Jan 2011 by margarethenry124
Aird is my great, great grandmother. According to my mother, Janette Henry (nee Harper), Aird lived at Saltcoats and when she travelled by train, which was her main form of transport to and from Glasgow, she would chat nicely to the conductor to keep him preoccupied, and quickly alight from the train when she got to her station without paying the fare.
Aird's father was
William Drummond and her mother was
Christian Campbell. Her paternal grandparents were
William Drumond and
Mary Tours. She had four brothers and four sisters, named
William,
Moses,
James,
Hugh,
Janet,
Mary,
Christina and
Margaret. She was the fourth oldest of the nine children. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named
Robert,
Isabella,
Helen and
Annie. She died at the age of 89 in 1923 in
Ardrossan.
