Ann's father was Robert Dick and her mother was Alison Haston.  Her paternal grandparents were David Dick and Janet Grant. She had four sisters named Janet, Jean, Alison and Elisabeth.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 65 in 1892 in Kirknewton.
