Susannah's father was David Bone and her mother was Susan Hammond.  Her paternal grandparents were David Bone and Margaret Smith. She had six brothers and five sisters, named William, David, John, William, James, Thomas, Agness, Margaret, Elisabeth, Elisabeth and Elspie.  She was the youngest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 14 in 1869 in Ayr.
