Daniel was born about 1849.  Daniel's father was Norbert Laurence and his mother was Josephte Parenteau.  His paternal grandparents were Jean-Baptiste Laurence and Louise Montagnaise; his maternal grandparents were Pierre Parenteau and Josephte Laurin. He had a brother and seven sisters, named David, Julie, Marie, Josephte, Pauline, Angele, Cecile and Larose.
