William was born in 1711.  William's father is Jacob Preston and his mother is Sarah Wilson.  His paternal grandparents are Samuel Preston and Susannah Gutterson; his maternal grandparents are Joseph Wilson and Sarah Lord. He has two brothers named David and John.  He is the second oldest of the three children.
