John Joseph Vann

John Joseph was born in 1736 in Jonesboro, Washington Co., Tennessee. John Joseph's father was Edward Ned Vann Sr and his mother was Mary Lewis Barnes (Ani'-Ga'tâge'wi = Kituah or Wild Potato). His paternal grandparents are John B TRADER Vann and Anikawi (Ani'-Kawi' = Deer Clan (Ga-ho-ga)); his maternal grandparents were Richard Barnes Jr and April Tikami Hop Cornstalk Turkey (Ani'-Ga'tâge'wi = Kituah or Wild Potato). He had six brothers named Charles B, Edward B, Dempsey, Henry, James Clement and Thomas. He was the oldest of the seven children. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named James Clement B, Thomas B, Avery, Edith and Susannah. He died at the age of 79 on May 6th, 1815.
