Opitchapan was born in 1566 in Mattaponi, VA.  Opitchapan's father is Chief Shawano (Shawnee) and his mother is Scent Flower Stream.  His maternal grandparents are Dashing Stream and Scent Flower. He had five brothers named Opachisco, Ioutegaoan, Powtianan, Kecatough and Wahunsonacock. He had ten half-brothers and a half-sister, named Opechankeno Oppechancino, Weroance, Winsonocock, Wahunsonacock, Mangopeesomon, Itoyatin, Apachano, Kekataugh, Winsonocock, Japasaw Japassus I-Opassus and Cleopatra.  He died after 1608 in VA.
