James was born in 1782. James' father was Chief John Headman TRADER Rogers (Cherokee) and his mother was Elizabeth Emory (Cherokee). His paternal grandparents are Trader Rogers and unk; his maternal grandparents were Col William Emory (Cherokee) and Mary Grant (Ani'-Gil�'hi = Twisters, Braids, or Long Hair Clan (Mary Grant)). He had two brothers and two sisters, named Charles, John Hell-Fire Jack, AKY U-LU-S-QUA-TO-GU and Nancy. He had four half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Joseph, William Charles, Susannah, Ellis, Martha, Annie, Tiana Diana Talahina, Polly Ann and Jennie Due.
