Thomas Chew was born on October 3rd, 1794 in Port Elizabeth, Cumberland, New Jersey.  Thomas Chew's father was Randall Marshall and his mother was Mary Reeves.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Marshall and Ann Pease; his maternal grandparents were Henry Reeves and Hannah Doughty Furness. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Henry Reeves, Randolph, Ann, Hannah Reeves and Mary R.  He was the oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 73 on May 6th, 1868 in Marshallville, Cape May, New Jersey.
