Robert P was born on January 27th, 1807 in Jackson IL.  Robert P's father was John Marshall and his mother was Leah Ann Davis.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Marshall and <Unknown>. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Samuel B, John Leggett, Hugh Lewis, Joseph Taylor, Elias, Jeremiah Davis, Rachel Eugenia and Priscilla.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.
