Nancy was born about 1818 in Albemarle Co. , VA.  Nancy's father was Thomas Marshall and her mother was Nancy Ancel.  Her maternal grandparents are Edward Ancel and Sarah Catterton. She had a brother and two sisters, named William E, Gaity Gantha and Ellen.  She was the youngest of the four children.
