James Collier was born on January 29th, 1804.  James Collier's father was Isaac Marshall and his mother was Mary Collier.  His paternal grandparents were Daniel of Westmorland Co VA Marshall and Phila Phile Phili Phillys Lang; his maternal grandparents were Kendle of the Peninsular Collier and Sarah Byrd. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Oliver, John, Isaac, Clarissa, Elizabeth Lefel and Sally.  He died at the age of 58 on February 2nd, 1862.
