George was born on October 23rd, 1631 in Witton Le Wear, Durham, England.  George's father was Thomas POSS Marshall and his mother was Janet Fidler.  His paternal grandparents were Guy Marshall and Agnes. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Richard, Elizabeth, Ann and Jane.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
