                                                                                        Death of F. S. Marshall
            F. S. Marshall an old an well know resident of St. Clair county of the Tiffin neighbor. Died Tuesday, June 15 ,1920. He was a resident of St. Clair county for 41 years most of which time was in this neighorhood,where he was in this neighborhood,where he was greatly esteemed for his kind and Plesant disposition. He will be greatly missed by his neighbors and friends, of which he had many. He was a member of the free will baptist church and lived a consistent Christian life and died with great hope in the Lord. Just before his death he been signing  praises to God. His death was caused by a paralyze stroke at about 7:00 o'clock Sunday night and suffered until Tuesday
    at 11:00 o'clock when the merciful Lord released him from his great suffering. He was born march 30 1831 being 88 years, 2 months and 15 days old. He was three times married. His first wife was Amanda Cummings of North Missouri, who preceded him in death in a early day. His second wife was elizbeth Miller, also preceded him in death. To this union nine children were born of which four are living,two boys and two girls, James H. Marshall of El Dorado Springs Sim Marshall of Arcadia, Kansas ,Mrs. Amanda Milburn of Ft. Scott Kansas and Mrs. Alissa McPherson of Independence ,Kansas. His third wife was Mrs. Mary Huff of El Dorado Springs they were married in the year 1885. He also leaves one step daughter ,Mrs. Tilda Milburn of El Dorado Springs and 19 grand children and 11 great grandchildren and many friends to mourn his death.

    William Early Marshall
    William Early Marshall was the oldest child of Fountain Simeon and Elizabeth Marshall. He was probably born in Ray County, Missouri, in 1862. We have not been able to document his birth date or his death date. He married Rosie Martin, October 15, 1888. She was only 14 years old. They had three children: Gurta or Gurtie was born in June of 1891. Clarence was born May 19, 1894 and Willie was born in November 3, 1896 in St. Clair County. We have been told, Early and his family lived in a little cabin behind the house Fountain Simeon and family lived in. This could explain why we could not find any records, such as census or land records for Early. We are not exactly sure when Early died but it was sometime before 1900. After Early's death, Rosie married a man named William Thompson. She took her youngest son, Willie, but left her other two children, Gurta and Clarence, with the Marshall's to raise. We have a 1900 census record showing Gurta and Clarence living with James and Rhuhama. We can assume from this record that Early had died prior to this and that Clarence and Gurta lived with their Uncle James and his new wife, Rhuhama, for a short time. They probably only lived there until James and Rhuhama started their own family, and then went to live with their grandfather Fountain Simeon and his wife, Mary.
    It has been said that Early could play the fiddle really well, but one day he found another use for his fiddle. While practicing on his fiddle he heard someone pilfering in the barn. He went out with his fiddle, still in hand, to see what was going on. He drew his fiddle like a gun, and the robber got scared and ran off. This story was told to us by John Marshall, son of James and Rhuhama Marshall. John also told us that before Early died, he was sick in bed for awhile, probably from some type of fever such as typhoid. He was given some type of pills to take for this fever but they didn't help. After he died, they found all the pills he was supposed to have been taking, in the floor, on the side of the bed next to the wall. Early is buried in one of the six unmarked graves at Union Point Cemetery.
