Amy was born on March 24th, 1799.  Amy's father was William Furman Marshall and her mother was Susanna Trimmer.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Marshall and unk; her maternal grandparents were Johannes of Amwell Trimmer and Susanna Servis. She had four brothers and four sisters, named John T, Charles, Anson, Joseph F, Mariah, Susan, Rebecca and Amanda.  She was the oldest of the nine children.
