Alexander was born on March 5th, 1806.  Alexander's father was Thomas Marshall and his mother was Sarah Stevenson.  His paternal grandparents were Alexander Marshall and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Col Henry Stevenson and Jane. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Henry, Joshua Stevenson, Robert, Thomas, George, Aaron????, John????, Jane, Elizabeth, Annie May and/or Alma and Rebecca C.
