Nelson was born in 1771 in Caroline Co., Virginia.  Nelson's father was William Burr Lowrey Sr and his mother was Elizabeth Pullam Pullen Pulliam.  His paternal grandparents were John Lowrey Sr and Miss Triplett (poss native). He had three brothers named John, William Burr and Thomas.  He died at the age of 63 on July 11th, 1834 in Bedford Co., Virginia.
