Cornelius was born before April 3rd, 1685 in Flatbush, Kings Co, Long Island, New York.  Cornelius' father is Gysbrecht Thyssen Lane (Laenen) and his mother is Jannetje Smith.  His paternal grandparents are Matthys lanen Van Pelt and Maryken Tryntje Gijsberts. He had a brother named Matthias.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died in 1762 in Freehold, Monmouth NJ.
