John was born about August 1740.  John's father was Dr Thomas  Erwin of Lancaster Ewing and his mother was Susanna Howard.  His paternal grandparents are James Ewing and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had a brother named James. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named James, John, Sarah, Susanna and Rebecca.  He died after 1800.
