    !Birth: (1) Brother of Asahel EDGINTON. Under age 35 in Dec 1793 (b.1758 or
    later). (2) 1757, Hampshire Co., VA. (2,4a) s/o George EDGINGTON/Margaret
    BROOME. (NOTE: Hampshire Co. now in WV.) (4a) ca.1754.
    Marriage to Nancy BRUCE: (3,4a)
    Death: (3,4a) 1813. (3) Stark Co., OH. (4a) OH.
    Burial: (3) 1 mile west of Canal, Fulton, OH. (NOTE: Fulton is in Morrow Co.,
    OH.)
    
    (1) c.1790: Israel DONALSON, William LEEDOM, and Isaac, Asahel and John
    EDGINGTON emigrated from VA and were with the first white men who located at
    Manchester, in what was later Adams Co., OH. They assisted in making all the
    surveys between 1790 and 1795. They fought the Indians so long as the Indian
    war lasted and Asahel EDGINGTON was one of their victims.
    (1) John and Asahel EDGINGTON, brothers, were noted deer hunters and Indian
    fighters.
    (1) 1793, Dec: Living at Manchester, Adams Co., OH. Went hunting with his
    brother Asahel on Lick Fork of Brush Creek when they were attacked by Indians
    and his brother was killed. John escaped and came back the next day to bury
    his brother.
    (1) After the peace of 1795, three Indians visited Manchester and, after being
    given some liquor, one of them boasted of having killed Asahel EDGINGTON. John
    EDGINGTON, then living in Manchester, was told. After remaining several days,
    the Indians left one morning, going up the Ohio River on its right bank. At
    Island Creek which empties into the Ohio River about 2 miles above Manchester,
    the Indians were shot and killed while crossing the creek on a fallen log.
    (1) 1799, Mar: John EDGINGTON and Edward THOMAS were appointed viewers of
    a road from Osler's or Beasley's Ferry below Limestone to St. Clairsville (now
    Decatur in Brown Co.), Adams Co., OH.
