Philip was born on January 28th, 1704 in Fairfield, Fairfield Co., Connecticut.  Philip's father was Daniel Burr and his mother was Elizabeth Pinkney.  His paternal grandparents were Jehu Burr and Esther Ward; his maternal grandparents were Philip Pinkney and Jane (poss native). He had six brothers and three sisters, named Stephen, Peter, David, David, Moses, Aaron Daniel, Elizabeth, Jane and Esther.  He was the sixth oldest of the ten children. He had a half-brother named Jehu.
