Richard was born in September 1679 in Upland, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Richard's father was Richard Buffington Sr and his mother was Frances Vane.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Boveington Buffington and Ann. He had two half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Thomas, Peter, Ruth, Rachel, Lydia, Anne, Alice, Charity and Phebe.  He died at the age of 61 on May 29th, 1741 in Bradford Twp., Chester Co., Pa.
