Her paternal grandfather was Thomas Buffington Jr and her paternal grandmother is Mary Harlan; her maternal grandparents were Col William Emory (Cherokee) and Mary Grant (Ani'-Gil�'hi = Twisters, Braids, or Long Hair Clan (Mary Grant)). She had a brother and three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Thomas, Susannah, Anne, Mary and 6 ch.
