Powhatan Powhatten H Bowles

    Does anyone have Powhatton in their database? I was told that he may be the
    father of Rebecca Margaret Bowles. He would have been born abt 1811 and
    married Permelia Marshall May 28 1832 in Nicholas County, KY.

    Hi! I am still searching (how many times have I read that sentence around here!) for any information on Powhatten Bowles' parents. Powhatten was born ca 1808 and married Permelia (Permilia) Marshall b. 1814 in the early 1830's.
    They had nine children.. Mahala, Sarah E, Susan A, Margaret, John H, William F, James H, Columbus, and Mary E.
    
    James H. Bowles b. abt 1851 is my link to Powhatten.

    Susan b: Abt 1841 is the daughter of Powhatten Bowles in th 1850 Nicholas Co. Census.
    
    Mary Rathbun has a big piece of info on your Powhatten in her tree.
    
    "It has been handed down through the family Powhatan was half Cherokee Indian. His mother was Mary Bowles, widow of Hughes Bowles. It is said that Powhatan's father was a full blooded Cheroke Indian named Walka Horse. Powhaten was born about 1811 and married Permelia Marshall. They resided in Headquarters, Nicholas Co, Ky."
