Polly's father was James B Indian Agent Allen and her mother was Elizabeth Betsy Love (Chickasaw).  Her paternal grandparents are William Allen and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Love (Chickasaw) and Sally Emahota Incunnomar "Chickasaw" Colbert (Chickasaw). She had three brothers and seven sisters, named George C, Samuel, Alexander, Sarah Sally, Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana Lucy, Elizabeth Lizzie, Susannah Susan and Mourning T. She had a half-sister named Margaret Peggy.
