    Thanks to everyone who has been sending information on the Loves ofChester/York Counties in SC. My paper is almost finished and shouldbe available later this week. I have come to a tentative conclusionthat the father of all these Loves was quite likely Robert Love whocame from Ireland and died in Lancaster Co PA in 1741.
    
    I would appreciate any information anyone may have on Robert Love.Here is
    some of what I have:
    - Robert came to PA sometime after about 1717
    - probably lived in Chester Co PA
    - later moved to Lancaster Co where he died in 1741
    - purchased 300 acres of land (NEEDMORE ON THIS)
    - West Fallowfield Twp., Chester Co is mentioned
    - Faggs Manor Parish in Chester Co is mentioned.
    
    If anyone has additional details on any of this, please send it to me.

    Anyway, I have been looking at him at a possible father for my JohnLove who died in 1799 in Chester County. John and his children werevery involved with Sadlers and allied families.

    �For want of current funds, provisions were difficult to obtain, sotheir fare often consisted of barley meal, without meat, salt or anyother seasoning, and but little of that. All the powder which couldbe had was collected. The good women in the region around gave uptheir pewter vessels to be molded into bullets and implements ofhusbandry were battered into
    swords. While thus engaged, the Patriots had to maintain the mostvigilant care, for the Tories were watching every movement, and oftenwaylaid and fired on them. An instance of this kind came to a smallparty led by Colonel Brandon nea r Bullock's Creek. A captain, by thename of Reed, fell behind the party for some reason and was met andkilled by two Tories. Captain Reed's mother, finding out who hismurderers were, followed Brandon to North Carolina and besought him toavenge the death of her son. Some of his men volunteered to go withhim and he hunted the Tories and killed them.
    The friends of the murdered Tories, in return, sought vengeance, andpursued Brandon in considerable force. Brandon divided his force into two parties, heleading one and Love the other. The house was surrounded. Mrs.Stallions, seeing the approach of her brother, ran out and begged himnot to fire upon the house. Running back to the house, just as shesprang upon the doorstep, she fell, pierced by a ball shot through theopposite door. The Tories, being attacked on all sides, kept up forsome a fire upon their assailants. It was not long, however, beforethey raised a flag and surrendered. The Tory loss was two killed,four wounded and twenty-eight prisoners. William Kennedy, anAmerican, was wounded. The prisoners were sent to Charlotte. Thevictory was gained at a bitter loss to Colonel Love who mingled histears with those of his Tory brother-in-law. This affair took placeJuly 12, 1780. �

They burned the house of Thomas Hughes about ten o'clock atnight. Mrs. Hughes was in bed with a two weeks old infant. She wasdriven from the house with the other children and compelled to takerefuge in a Negro cabin. The bed on which she lay was ripped open andfeathers strewn over the yard. They
    took what provisions they wanted and destroyed the balance thenproceeded up the river with the intention of burning William Hughes'house, but stopped on the way to cook some of their stolen rations andrest until just before daylight, when they expected to continue withtheir fiendish destruction.
    Learning that the Tories were in the vicinity on a rampage, Mrs.William Hughes went in great haste to notify her kindred and friendson the other side of the river. Leaving her children in the care of afaithful servant called "Old Hector," she went to the river and rowedacross, about twelve o'clock at night, apprised the soldiers of theTory movement and returned in safety to her home.     Their guns were taken, and those of all the other Tories theyfound on their return. Says Young: "By the time we got back every manof us had two guns apiece. We now felt we had done all that wasrequired of us." The dastardly and cowardly murder of Captain Reidwas thus avenged. �

    He led a quiet existance. He assisted in marking the Creek-Chickasawboundry in 1796. Another countryman, John McIntosh, appointed himadministrator of his estate in 1803.
    
    Thomas had two wives; his first wife was Sally Colbert, hal-breedChickasaw, daughter of James Logan Colbert. His second wife was afull-blood Chickasaw woman named Emahota. Following the Chickasawtradition of the husband becoming a member of the wife's family, hebecame a member of the house if In-cun-no-mar. Thomas fathered eightsons and five daughters.
    
    By the 1820's, most of the Love family were living in a prosperousfarming community located about six miles southwest of the presenttown of Holly Springs, Ms. In 1826, a presbyterian missionary locateda station they called Martyn Station near Henry Love's home whichstood at the crossing of two Indian trails near Pigeon Roost Creek.Many of the family's children attended school there.
    
    Seven of his sons became Chickasaw leaders, particularly during andafter the removal to Indian Territory.

    I am searching for Information regarding William "English Bill" Love. I have
    some information on him. He had 2 sons : James who married a Sadler? and
    Thomas who married Sally Colbert. He also had a daughter who married a
    William Sadler.
    
    He also had 2 brothers Alexander Love of York Co. SC and James "The Weaver"
    Love on the Broad River in Chester Co SC.
    
    It seems that His son James and William pillaged the house of a Capt Hughes,
    and in retalliation, Capt Hughes and a Capt Reed killed James. William "EB"
    and William Sadler killed Capt Reed. The two Willams's then took refuge at an
    unknown house and were killed by unknown persons.
    
    >From wht information I have gathered from other peoples resources, it seems
    that William Love was a Peace Officer and was confused as to his allegiance
    to the Tory's which might explain his demise.
    
    I am in search of any information on him, especially his Wife's name, any
    info on his family, Daughter, ancestors, brothers, etc. Any help would be
    greatly appreciated and I will share any information that comes my way.
