Elizabeth was born on December 15th, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Elizabeth's father was Wade Hamilton Mosby, Jr. and her mother was Joan Elizabeth Hensel.  Her paternal grandparents were Wade Hamilton Mosby, Sr. and Lucy (Elsie) Ellsworth Carter; her maternal grandparents were Charles Gillman Hensel and Grace (Nana) Leibhart. She had a brother and a sister, named Scott and Sally.  She is the oldest of the three children.
