Thomas was born on April 8th, 1679 in Hampfield, Gloucester Co, Va. Thomas' father was Capt. John Hampton I and his mother was Mary Mann. His paternal grandfather was Rev. Thomas Hampton; his maternal grandfather was John Mann. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, William, Richard and Mary. He was the oldest of the five children. He had a half-sibling of unknown gender named Cary. He died at the age of 61 in August 1740 in King William Co, Va (now Caroline Co,Va). He was buried in King William Co, Va (now Caroline Co,Va).-
