Hawise (The Hardy) Gadarn verch Owain

Hawise, known as The Hardy, was born in July 1291 in Cyfeiliog, Montgomeryshire, Wales.¹ The Hardy's father was Owain ap Gryffud de la Pole and her mother was Joan Corbet. Her paternal grandparents were Gruffud ap Gwenwynwyn and Hawise le Strange; her maternal grandparents were Robert de Corbet and Katherine le Strange. She had four brothers and a sister, named William, Llywelyn, Gruffydd, Owain and Jane. She was the second youngest of the six children.²
