Count Friedrich of Brehna I

Friedrich was born in 1143 in Meissen, Dresden, Saxony.¹ Friedrich's father was Margrave Konrad (Der Grosse) of Meissen and Lower Lusatia and his mother was Countess Luitgard of Swabia. His paternal grandparents were Count Thimo of Wettin and Princess Ida of Bavaria; his maternal grandparents were Albrecht von Ravensburg and Berthe of Austria. He had five brothers and six sisters, named der Reiche, Dietrich, Hermann, Heinrich, Der Fieste, Oda, Bertha, Gertrude, Adela, Sofie and Agnes. He was the youngest of the twelve children.
