Earl Jean de Conteville 
Jean was born in 0969 in Conteville, Eure, Normandy, France.1 Jean's father was Count Baudouin of Flanders III and his mother was Mathilde Saxony. His paternal grandparents were Arnoul I Flanders and Alix de Vermandois; his maternal grandparents were Duke of Saxony Hermann Billung Saxony and Hildegardis von Westerburg. He had a brother and a sister, named Arnold and Bertha. He was the second oldest of the three children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Gottfried, Gozelon, Frederick, Herman, Adelaide, Regilla, Gerberge and Ermengarde. He died at the age of 43 in 1012.2 General Notes
