James Whiteman 
James was born about 1840 in Illinois. James' father was David Waldo Whiteman and his mother was Martha Jane Bryant. His maternal grandparents were Solomon George Bryant and Lavinia Roberts. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Raymond Robert, Alexander C., Joseph A., John Steven, Mahala "Mahalie" Ann, Martha Jane (twin), Mary (twin), Susan Melinda and Matilda "Tillie". He was the oldest of the ten children.General Notes
