Martha Ann was born on July 10th, 1897. Martha Ann's father was Eli "Pap" Underwood and her mother was Elizabeth Sophronia Fenwick. Her paternal grandparents were Green Berry Underwood and Mary Rachel "Polly" Sprowls. She had five brothers and a sister, named James Arthur, Oscar, Gerald Martin, Eli Richard, Edgar and Maude. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Barney, Morgan D., Virgil, Everett, Elmer W., Mary Elizabeth, Sarah Ada and Ida.-
