Sir Walter Stewart of Garlies and Dalswinton 
Walter was born in 1274 in Scotland.1 Walter's father was John of Bonkyl Stewart and his mother was Margaret de Bonkyl. His paternal grandparents were 4th High Steward of Scotland Alexander Stewart and Jean MacRorie of Bute; his maternal grandparents were Sir Alexander Bonkyl and <Unknown>. He had six brothers and a sister, named Alexander, Alan, James, John, Robert, Hugh and Isobel. He was the third oldest of the eight children. He had a half-sister named Margaret.-
