William Preston Shipley 
William Preston was born on October 10th, 1837 in , Bledsoe County, Tennessee, USA.1 William Preston's father was Richard Shipley and his mother was Julinda Windom. His paternal grandparents were Richard SHIPLEY and Henrietta HUGHES. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin Rush, Reuben Richard, Joseph Douty, George, Nancy Ann, Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Susan. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Johnnie W., Eddie, Ellen Jane, Hannah Rettie, Lulla May and Etta Eliza. He died at the age of 25 on October 20th, 1862 in Camp Lincoln, Keokuk County, Iowa, USA (Civil War). He was buried in Hayden Chapel Cemetery, Monroe County, Iowa, USA.2 General Notes

He died the 20th of October, 1862 in Camp Lincoln, Keokuk County, Iowa, USA during the Civil War, supposedly of measles. He is buried at Hayden Chapel Cemetery, Monroe County, Iowa, USA by his mother's side. His name appears on a stone in memory of the Civil War veterans in Eddyville Park.
