William Nathan Shipley 
William Nathan was born in 1847 in Bakewell, Hamilton County, Tennessee, USA.1 William Nathan's father was Nathan Shipley and his mother was Charlotte Campbell. His paternal grandparents were Richard SHIPLEY and Henrietta HUGHES. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Marion, Richard, Nathan Taylor, Louiza, Mary, Elizabeth, Delila and Margaret. He was the second youngest of the nine children. He died before June 1st, 1900 in , , Tennessee, USA. He was buried in Hughes Cemetery, Bakewell, Hamilton County, Tennessee, USA.2 3 General Notes
William Nathan Shipley was born the 1st of July, 1841 in Tennessee.(1) He married Elmira Gothard on the 12th of March, 1872. She was born in February, 1852 in Tennessee to James Gothard and Susannah _____. A William M. Shipley enlisted in the C Co., 5th Infantry on the 28th of March, 1862 in Barboursville, Kentucky and mustered out in April, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. William N. Shipley was in the hospital in Nashville from May 1863 to February 1864. William died the before June 9, 1900 in Tennessee.(2) Elmira died in 1914. They are buried in Hughes Cemetery, Bakewell, Hamilton County, Tennessee, USA. William and Elmira had nine children, seven of whom survived.

William Nathan Shipley was born in 1847 at Bakewell, Hamilton, Tennessee. He joined the Union Army at Harrison, Hamilton, Tennessee and was assigned to the 5th Tennessee Infantry, Company C. After enlisting he and cousin Larkin Wesley Shipley headed north to Barbourville, Knox, Kentucky to join the Union Troops there. After fighting in Kentucky and North Carolina he suffered from asthma and partial deafness and was hospitalized in 1863. He was born in 1847 at Bakewell, Hamilton, Tennessee. He died before 9 June 1900 since he was not alive for the Census of Hamilton County. His wife, widowed, and children were surveyed.
