Joseph Erastus SKAGGS 
Joseph Erastus was born on December 1st, 1826 in Madison Co. MO. Joseph Erastus' father was Drury Thomas SKAGGS and his mother was Martha "Ann" MURRY. His paternal grandparents were James Skaggs and Mary Anna MCCOLGAN. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Thomas Jefferson, John, William J., Cyrus C., Edward Joseph, Alfred Ferguson, Martha and Jeanna. He was the oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 58 on August 1st, 1885 in Madison Co. MO. He was buried in Skaggs Family Cemetery, Madison Co. MO.-
