Mary was born about 1433 in Glenerochie, Perthshire, Scotland. Mary's father was 9th of Glenerochie Alexander Robertson and her mother was Elizabeth Lyon. Her paternal grandfather was 8th of Glenerochie Robert 'Ruadh'. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Duncan, Robert, Andrew, James, Alexander, John, Margaret and Janet. She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
