  Harrison Gaines Murphy, Sr.
  Oct. 11, 1986(1836) - December 17, 1927
  
  Mabel Murphy Ketteringham: "My father was 60, almost 61 when I was born.  How, I wish could have written his history.  His father, (Ezekiel) Elizah, came from Ireland, and his four sons by his first marriage.  His second wife was English.  She descended from the first settlers on the James River in Virginia.  She was a member of the Madison family.  She had 4 children 2 boys & 2 girls.  Her father was a Methodist preacher.  She married my grandfather & had 4 children: Elizah, Uncle "Ike," Harrison Gaines, Sam Houston, named for the Sam Houston who was a Texas hero, the 1st president of Texas when it was a nation of its own.  Victoria Murphy married a man named Snell, they had 2 boys & 1 girl.  Uncle (Ezekiel) Elizah (Ike died shortly after the civil war was over.  His wife was from Rome Georgia. 
  
      NOTE: the name Elizah has as * on the page by it then under the paragraph Ezekiel is written.
  
  Harrison Gaines Murphy, Jr.
  April 30, 1875- Oct. 6, 1917
  
  The son & 3rd child of my father, his mother was my father's first wife, there were 4 children: Annie, May Pillow (Big Sister), Gaines (Big Brother) he married Ida McCullough, & Randall Lee.  Randall, the youngest son died, in early life, from complications of whooping cough in TN.  Annie & her other died after moving to Manor, TX. I don't know why tombstones were not placed on their graves.
  
  Tennessee Miranda Hendrix Murphy:  1858-1916
  
  My mother, my fathers second wife had 3 children: Ethel Victoria, Willie Hendrix, & Mable Elizabeth.  Tennessee Miranda had 2 stepsons, sons of her first husband Mr. Wray.  They were Reedy Wray & Claude Wray.  We called them cousins because my father was related to the Wrays.
  
  "Tenny" Hendrix was 1 of Squire Hendrix's 15 children.  Several of her brothers were Presbyterian ministers in TN.

  So far we don't know the date of Ezekial's birth, on a census showing Harrison G. as head of house (1880) he stated that his father was born in Ireland.  He married his 2 wife Harrison's mother Louisa Parish Jones Murphy, 12-27-1835 in Rutherford Co.  He died Feb. 1843 before Louisa but left no will, documents show that John Murphy from Ezekiel's first marriage was appointed administrator & Wayne W. Murphy also from 1st marriage was appointed guardian of minor children: Harrison G., Sam Houston, Louisa V., & Ezekiel (Ike).
