Joan was born about 1402 in Over Peover, Cheshire, Eng. .1 Joan's father was Randle Sir Lord of Over Peover Mainwaring and her mother was Margery De Venables. Her paternal grandparents were William IV Mainwaring and Elizabeth Lycester; her maternal grandfather was Hugh III 9th Baron of Kinderton De Venables. She had three brothers and six sisters, named John, William Lord, Randle, Clemence, Elizabeth, Margery, Cecily, Ellen and Agnes. She was the third youngest of the ten children.-
