America C. was born in March 1843 in Morgan Co., IN.. America C.'s father was Wilburn KEMP and her mother was Ruth NORMAN. Her maternal grandparents were William NORMAN and Mary Polly KEMP. She had nine brothers and seven sisters, named Alfred, Stokely, Joseph Jasper, William, Creed, Emery, Nimrod, Riley, Marion, Laura, Louisa, Lucinda, Maria A., Sarah, Mary Ellen and Nancy. She was the nineth oldest of the seventeen children. She died at the age of 87 on January 11th, 1931 in Morgan Co., IN..-
