John T. was born in 1822 in York Co, SC.1 John T.'s father was Henry Houser and his mother was Faithy Jones. His maternal grandparents were Benjamin Jones and Faithy Roberts. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Henry Robertson, Cyrus Johnson, David R., Jane Christina, Nancy Jane, Eliza, Faithy L. and Harriet Hannah.
