Mary was born about 1536 in Of Eaton, Cheshire, England. Mary's father was Richard Grosvenor and her mother was Catherine Cotton. Her maternal grandparents were Richard Cotton and Jane Or Joan Brereton. She had five brothers and ten sisters, named Richard, John, Anthony, George, Thomas, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Catherine, Margaret, Anne, Maud, Alice, Jane, Dorothy and Ursula. She had five half-brothers and eleven half-sisters, named Richard, John, Anthony, George, Thomas Sir, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Catherine, Margaret, Anne, Maud, Alice, Jane, Dorothy, Mary and Ursula.
