Sarah Ann was born on October 5th, 1835 in Long Branch MO.1 Sarah Ann's father was John D. Goodnight and her mother was Frances Pond Childress. Her paternal grandparents were Edward Goodnight and Sarah "Sally" Dye. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Joshua C., Edward, Presley Harrison, James Thomas, William Henry, Ruth J., Dulcena Pendleton, Lucinda and Mary Margaret.
