John Allen was born on June 30th, 1828 in Spotsylvania, Virginia, USA. John Allen's father was Robert Dudley Foster and his mother was Elizabeth Mitchell. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Foster and Susanna Foster. He had five brothers and six sisters, named William Edmund, Warrinton Dudley, Robert Maxwell, James Alexander, Rev Thomas Andrew, Julia Ann, Amanda, Sophia, Mary Ann, Cordelia Elizabeth and Ellen Sarah. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 33 on September 4th, 1861 in Springfield, Greene, Missouri, USA.-
