His paternal grandparents were John Humble Foster and Sarah Jane Mahan. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Clarence Russell, Glen Buford, Cleo Eugene, Edna May and Anna B. He was the youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 52 on August 11th, 1977 in Anaheim, Orange, California, United States.
