Joseph was born about 1917 in North Carolina. Joseph's father was Joseph J Davis and his mother was Carrie Viola Foster. His maternal grandparents were Zenus Dewitt Foster and Sarah Ellen Howard. He had a brother and a sister, named Vincent and Lela Mae. He was the youngest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Ernest Walter, Henry Dewitt and Ruth Estelle ( Janie ). He died in 1983 in Concord, NC.-
