Theodora was born in 1053 in Constantinople, Turkey.1   Theodora's father was Emperor Ioannis Comnenus of Byzantium and her mother was Anna Dalassena.  Her paternal grandparents were Manolis Michael Manuel Comnenus and Anna; her maternal grandparents were Alexios Pharo and Dalassene. She had a brother and a sister, named Alexius and Maria.  She was the youngest of the three children.
