Loransie Dowell Coatney 
Loransie Dowell was born on August 13th, 1894 in Rudy, Crawford County, Arkansas, USA.1 Loransie Dowell's father was William Loransie Dow Coatney and his mother was Julietta Dade Reynolds\Runnels. His maternal grandparents were Young E. Reynolds Runnels and Susan Arabelle Shipley. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Ky, Robert Sy, Arizona Melinda Jean Roadie Albertine, Lucinda Arbell, Hattie H., Dola Missouri, Delpha A., Iva Easter and Julie. He was the fourth youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 83 on March 16th, 1978 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas, USA. Loransie was a carpenter and farmer. Juanita tells how the family often traveled "out west" (Oklahoma) in their Model T Ford with the running boards on the sides looking for work. Sometimes several car loads of family traveled together. The roads were all dirt and there were no bridges over the creeks and streams. They would find a crossing and ford the stream. When it rained the roads became slick with mud. The cars would slip and slide as they crawled up and down the steep mountain roads. At night they would pull to the side of the road and camp under the stars, sometimes setting up a tent sometimes not. The men gathered wood to build a fire, Sylvine made a meal and the others set up camp for the night.

L. D. Coatney, 83 years old, Route 1, Rudy, died Thursday March 16, in a Ft. Smith hospital. A native of Rudy, he was born Aug. 13, 1894 to Joseph and Julia Runnels. Coatney, was a member of the New Hope Pentecostal Church and a retired carpenter. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Sylvine Coatney; two sons, Raymond and William of Rudy; a daughter, Mrs. Juanita Teague of Rudy; a brother, R.S. of Alma; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the 88 Community Church, Earl Gentry and Roland Atwell officiated. Burial in Morrison Cemetery was by Edwards Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Cy and Elmer LaRue, Gene and Mike Farrar, Gary and Clarence Jr. Roark. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Dillon, Glen Brammer, Paul Moody, Bob Pope, Albert and S. H. Farrar, Ed Seabert, and Andy Teague
